Socorro Zoning Board elects chair, approves routine procedures

The Zoning Board of Adjustment of the City of Socorro elected Miriam Cruz as chair and Victor Espinosa as vice chair at its Nov. 6 meeting. The nomination was moved and seconded and the board voted in favor; the clerk announced the motion carried.
Miriam Cruz read the board’s required hearing statement, citing the board’s authority under Article 211.008 of the Texas Local Government Code and reminding applicants and interested parties that they would have the opportunity to present evidence and testimony. The clerk then swore in anyone who intended to give testimony.
The board also approved minutes from the Sept. 25, 2025 meeting on a motion moved and seconded by commissioners; the motion carried. With those procedural items complete the meeting proceeded to several variance petitions for setbacks, accessory structures, signs and a manufactured-home placement.
