The Montgomery County Economic Development Committee voted to support a resolution that would redesignate the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation as the county’s official economic development corporation for a five-year term and forward the measure to the full County Council.

“Decision is yours,” council staff told the committee, noting that the packet shows MCEDC met the requirements for redesignation. After brief comment and questions, the committee chair said the panel would support the redesignation and send it to the full council for final consideration.

Committee members did not record a roll-call vote at the work session; staff described the action as a committee recommendation. The chair reminded the corporation to deliver its strategic plan by July 2026 and said the full council will consider the formal resolution at a later meeting.

Earlier in the session, MCEDC staff presented an interim FY26 work plan that the committee said it will monitor as part of ongoing oversight. The committee’s action was procedural: endorsing the packet and referring the resolution for formal council action.

The committee adjourned after the redesignation discussion and did not take additional formal votes on other items at the work session.
