Mrs. Burnett, a pupil‑services presenter for the Greendale School District, told the board the district is strengthening its mental‑health supports with new staff and updated protocols.
"So the goal that I'm working on is to ensure that our pupil service team members have the training and skills to support our mental health needs," Burnett said, listing four new pupil‑services team members this year—two school psychologists, a social worker and a guidance counselor—and noting two existing team members recently returned from leave.
She described district training carried out in August on the Standard Response Protocol (SRP) and said staff created and posted a standard response protocol poster across district learning spaces. Burnett said staff updated crisis team folders, reviewed the suicide screener and the Behavior Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM) process, and held a BTAM training last week that was ‘‘well attended.’’
Next steps, she said, include updating the district "green folders" that contain the suicide‑screener process, completing regular updates to BTAM forms, and developing a cross‑building data collection system to monitor behaviors that may trigger the BTAM process over time.
The presentation was framed as part of the district's first‑trimester scorecard reporting, which aligns to the strategic plan the board adopted in 2021. Board members did not record formal votes on this item; the presentation concluded with staff noting further implementation steps and training schedules.
The board will receive follow‑up updates as staff implement the data collection system and roll out the updated screener and BTAM forms districtwide.
