Mount Holly manager highlights museum opening, park bridge, brewery project and Veterans Park plans

Mount Holly City Manager Mr. Blanton told the City Council on Nov. 10 that the new Mount Holly Museum has opened and staff will continue to build out exhibits and public programming at 414 East Central Ave. "If you have not already checked it out, we encourage you to come by 414 East Central Avenue," Blanton said.
Blanton said the River Street Park bridge has arrived and crews will assemble it over the coming months to create a greenway connection to Tuck Park. He also announced a grant from energy company Enbridge to fund improvements to the disc-golf course at River Street Park, calling the award "an exciting update" for park amenities.
On local economic development, Blanton said Old Mecklenburg Brewery expects to begin construction at month's end, with a roughly 240-day construction period and a target grand opening of Sept. 1, 2026. "Old Mecklenburg Brewery expects that they will start construction at the end of this month, November, and the construction will last approximately 240 days," he said.
Blanton described a Veterans Park expansion rendering as an initial design that remains subject to council approval and public process. He said staff plans a public charrette in January and that council will see a development agreement and public hearing before any final approvals. "I would note that this is just a rendering. This is just an initial design of where we are," Blanton said. Staff also told the council ongoing negotiations with a private partner, identified in the meeting as Streetlights Technology, are the reason the council went into closed session later in the agenda.
Blanton closed by noting upcoming community events and operational details: a GIS Day event on Nov. 19, city offices closed for Veterans Day and Thanksgiving (with adjusted residential garbage pickup), carriage rides and a new "Deck the Hall" event in early December, and Small Business Saturday promotions supported by downtown banners funded by the TDA.
