Board honors teachers, staff and students with Impact Through Education, Teacher/Everyday Hero awards

At its Nov. 10 meeting, the board presented Impact Through Education awards to students and staff from Patriot STEM Elementary and Cabarrus Early College of Technology, named Mia Green Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month and recognized David Fox as the Everyday Hero for facilities work.
The Cabarrus County Board of Education used its Nov. 10 meeting to present a series of recognitions to students and staff across the district.
Phil Furr introduced Impact Through Education Awards sponsored by Equitable to Patriot STEM Elementary and Cabarrus Early College of Technology; honorees included students Assad Jackson and Finley Thorpe and staff members Marina Freeman and Sean Kirby from Patriot STEM, and Hannah Clark, Gaurav Talabahala, Tempest Simpson and Stacy Diaz from Cabarrus Early College of Technology. Equitable, the Cabarrus Regional Chamber and Concord Trophy Center were acknowledged for their longstanding support of the program.
Dr. Michael Williams presented the Hilbish Ford Teacher of the Month for November to Mia Green, a fourth‑grade teacher at Pitt School Road Elementary, citing multiple parent nominations that described Green’s classroom support and out‑of‑school engagement. The board also recognized David Fox, lead plumber and a 25‑year facilities employee, as the Everyday Hero award recipient for his long service and contributions to district facilities.
Separately, Dr. Parker recognized Jessica Espinosa from Culture Webb Elementary as the North Carolina Science Teachers Association’s 2025 District 6 Outstanding Elementary Science Teacher for her work in STEM instruction and professional leadership.
The board applauded honorees and thanked district partners for sponsorship and support.
