During routine business at its Nov. 11 meeting, the Elmbrook School District Board approved the consent agenda, reappointed Christie Westfall as deputy clerk for the 2026 school board election, accepted gifts to the district, and discussed selecting a clerk pro tem ahead of the December meeting.
A motion by Jean to approve the consent agenda was seconded by Preetha and carried on voice vote. The board then reappointed Christie Westfall — who has served as deputy clerk since 2019 — to perform nondiscretionary election duties when the clerk is unavailable. A board member noted that certain clerk duties require discretion and judgment and are not delegated to staff, and another member said campaign finance paperwork remains local for another election cycle.
The board accepted recent gifts totaling $53,394.83 (donor names will be posted on the district website’s gift section), and that motion carried on voice vote. The board also discussed naming a clerk pro tem (recommended not to be the incumbent clerk or a current board officer) to review candidate filings and campaign finance items; staff recommended bringing an action to the Dec. 9 meeting with the appointment effective immediately thereafter to ensure timely review of filings and signatures.
All motions in these items passed by voice vote; board members emphasized continuity and the working nature of election-related duties.
