Forsyth County Schools staff presented a proposed amendment to Board Policy DJEAC on Nov. 11 to raise district‑issued credit‑card limits for certain school and central office cards.
Staff explained the change would increase the card limit for elementary designated cards from $5,000 to $10,000 (the middle and high school limits previously were $5,000), and maintain the superintendent’s card limit at or below $15,000. Staff said the cards are designed to be paid off automatically each month and are used primarily for vendors that do not accept checks and for routine purchases such as student trip costs and other school needs.
The board was told the policy revision will be posted for a 30‑day public view period before the board considers final approval. Staff framed the change as operational — intended to reduce repeated card paydowns and administrative burden as vendor acceptance and inflation make $5,000 less practical for some schools.
