Blans said the trip is open to parents and students and that the vendor (named in the presentation as ‘Orca’) would provide tour logistics. He described classroom-connected experiences and cultural sites, and noted the group had previously traveled together without major incident. “It’s overall gonna be a 10 day trip,” he said, describing visits to Lima, Cusco and the Sacred Valley.
Board members asked logistical questions about participant limits, chaperone ratios and an informational meeting for families. Blans said the program intends a chaperone ratio of one adult for every six students and that an informational meeting for interested families will be held on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the high school professional development center.
The presentation was informational only; no formal board approval or vote was required at this meeting. Staff and board members encouraged interested students and parents to attend the informational meeting for details on enrollment, cost and travel insurance.
