Vigo County commissioners approve routine dockets, a recorder contract and HR appointment

The Vigo County Board of Commissioners approved routine administrative items and personnel changes during a short meeting on Nov. 10, 2025.

Clerk Hutchings asked the commission to approve the minutes from Nov. 4, 2025; a motion to approve was made and the vote carried by voice assent. Hutchings then presented a claims docket for 10/31/2025–11/07/2025 totaling $1,505,204.03, and the board approved that docket after a motion and second. The commission also approved a payroll docket for 10/31/2025–11/07/2025 totaling $1,453,033.89.

The board considered and approved a new annual contract between the county recorder and CSI. A CSI representative said they were available to answer questions and the commission moved to approve the contract; the motion passed by voice vote.

Separately, commissioners announced that Human Resources Director Kara Wright retired effective Oct. 31, 2025. The board moved to promote Jordan Gackle, the department's second in command, to HR director and set the appointment through Dec. 31, 2027 under the county's two-year appointment schedule. The motion to appoint Gackle was seconded and approved by voice vote.
