At its Nov. 10 meeting, the Mayfield Heights City Council approved two emergency resolutions to renew employee benefit plans and adopted a 2025 budget amendment.
Human-resources staff presented Resolution 2025-56 to accept a medical and prescription group health insurance quotation from Medical Mutual of Ohio through the Ohio Government Benefits Cooperative and Resolution 2025-57 to accept a group dental quotation from Sun Life, both declared emergency measures. The HR representative said the 2026 health and pharmacy plan renewal reflects a 5.4% increase, dental rates decreased by about 4% with a two-year rate guarantee, and vision coverage remains unchanged under its four-year guarantee through 2027. Council approved both resolutions; the transcript records one abstention by President Snyder on these votes.
Finance Director Scali presented Ordinance 2025-28, an amendment to the 2025 appropriations ordinance. The amendment provides supplemental appropriations primarily related to the Marnell and Washington projects. Council suspended the rules, moved to approve and adopted Ordinance 2025-28 by roll call following the finance director’s memo. Ordinance 2025-29, the proposed appropriations for fiscal year 2026, was introduced and placed on first reading and referred to the finance committee for detailed review at the Nov. 12 finance meeting.
Councilmembers were asked to submit questions for the finance committee meeting in advance so staff could prepare responses. No additional conditions or amendments were recorded on the floor during the Nov. 10 votes.
