Mayfield Heights mayor honors four local Eagle Scouts with proclamation

Mayor Anthony DeCicco read a proclamation on Nov. 10 honoring four Mayfield Heights youths who attained the rank of Eagle Scout and recognized their service projects at St. Bartholomew Church.
The proclamation named brothers Carter and Parker Valentine and Andrew and Owen Caranichi, noting the scouts completed roughly 500 combined hours of service. According to the mayor, Carter, 16, designed and built an outdoor food pantry drop box; Parker, 14, refreshed the church’s front signage and a sundial; Andrew, 16, constructed a 16-foot wooden bridge with handrail to improve accessibility; and Owen, 15, built an outdoor reading area with a bench and a little free library.
"This is truly an honor to have you and your family here this evening," Mayor DeCicco said as he presented the proclamation and affixed the city seal. He added, "Congratulations, guys." The proclamation was entered into the official record of the Nov. 10 council meeting.
No formal council action was required; the recognition was ceremonial and took place at the start of the regular meeting.
