Board hears Tolles update, reappoints Scott Melody as district representative

The Dublin City Schools Board on Monday voted unanimously to name Scott Melody as the district’s representative to Tolles (career and technical education), and Melody provided the board with an update on Tolles enrollment, construction and programming.

The appointment passed on a 4‑0 roll‑call vote after the superintendent recommended the resolution. "Thank you for your willingness to serve for an additional three years as our representative to Tolles' board," the superintendent said during the meeting.

Melody told the board Tolles currently enrolls 1,215 students this year — including 113 seniors — and that construction of a new facility is "on track for a December '26 opening." He highlighted upcoming open‑house dates (Nov. 20–25) and said student applications will open Dec. 4.

Melody also noted Tolles’ career‑readiness offerings: 25 state‑of‑the‑art driving simulators donated in 2021 now support a driver‑education module that will reach more than 1,200 students this year; adult‑education programs recently received national accreditation, and Tolles currently offers electrical, HVAC, multi‑craft maintenance, firefighting/EMT, welding and state‑tested nursing assistance courses.

The board approved the resolution to name Melody as Tolles’ Dublin representative after motion and second from board members. "Okay. Thank you. Moving on," Melody said after the acknowledgment.

What's next: Melody will serve as Dublin City Schools’ Tolles representative for the term in question; Tolles staff and district leaders flagged construction and application milestones for the coming year.
