Lawrence City's council approved a sanitary sewer account adjustment of $2,324.57 for account 4850 at 4850 Happy House Drive, citing a service-line leak that produced three months of elevated usage. The approval was made by voice vote following a motion and second.
Paul, utilities superintendent, described the adjustment as a three-month usage change that exceeded $1,000 and said that Tracy had requested an explanation. "As you see, we also have an account adjustment at at, 4850. That is a 3 month adjustment that does go over the, 1,000 that Tracy wanted explanations for," Paul said. He added that "water's back down to normal." When asked about the location, Paul said he was not sure whether the property was inside a mobile home park and observed that "the mobile home company was either the owners responsible to get the contractor out."
Presiding officer (S1) requested a motion to accept the adjustment; the motion was made, seconded and approved by voice vote. The record does not show a roll-call tally; the clerk recorded the outcome as "Motion carried." The council also recorded a remonstration-of-ratepayer dispute as "none" and no citizen comments were entered on this item.
The adjustment will reduce the billed amount for the account by $2,324.57 to reflect consumption attributable to the service-line leak; staff did not provide additional detail about whether the adjustment will affect other account-holder responsibilities or whether repairs are covered by insurance or by property ownership arrangements discussed in the meeting.
