The Seven Hills City Council's police and finance committees approved a one-year, nonexclusive per-diem lease agreement with the city of North Royalton to provide jail housing and auxiliary services and moved the item to the full council's agenda as an emergency to avoid service interruptions into 2026.
"This is our yearly contract with North Royalton, and we do it every year," Chief Saloom said when asked to summarize the request. He asked the committee to approve the item on an emergency basis so the city would not have "any uninterrupted services going into '26." Councilman Martin moved approval; the motion was seconded and carried on a roll call vote (Curiosa yes; Martin yes).
Committee discussion was brief. The item will appear on the next council agenda for final action, per the committee vote.
No new municipal funding was requested for jail housing in committee; the measure is a continuation of an existing interlocal arrangement.
