The project's total cost was reported as $1,641,647.61; of that total, $750,000 came from CDBG, $10,000 for construction management and $25,000 for grant administration.
Allen said the CDBG funds supported upgrades to the facility's air filtration, removal of architectural barriers to improve accessibility for elderly and severely disabled residents, fire protection and plumbing, HVAC replacement, facade and window work, carpet and painting, and other safety and accessibility tasks. He told commissioners the project satisfied the national objective for the grant, addressing urgent community conditions.
The board opened the public hearing and heard supportive comments from residents, including Willard Peterson, who urged fiscal prudence generally but praised the 4 Corner program and recommended the county finish the project. Allen said closeout documentation was nearly complete and ready to submit to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for final approval; an open house and ribbon cutting was announced for Nov. 13 (3'5 p.m., ribbon at 4 p.m.).
