Eureka Union approves membership in Education Technology JPA to streamline EdTech procurement

The board unanimously approved staff's recommendation to become a member of an Education Technology joint powers authority (JPA). Leslie (staff) said the JPA was formed by other California districts and county offices of education to provide pre-procured EdTech services and supplier agreements that include student-data privacy protections. The chief benefits described were shortened procurement timelines, potential price savings on products and pre-existing privacy/security contracts for vendors.
Melissa (staff) told trustees there is no upfront financial cost to join and that membership includes an ability to terminate in the future if needed. Trustee discussion was brief and supportive; the board approved the recommendation with a motion and second and no recorded opposition.
