John Galluli sworn in as mayor; council honors outgoing mayor Louis Theros

During the oath, Galluli repeated his commitment "to support the constitution of The United States and the constitution of this state" and to "faithfully discharge the duties of the office of mayor for the city of Grosse Pointe Farms." He thanked family members and city staff and said he was "extremely, extremely humbled to have been elected, as your mayor." Galluli told residents he wants the council and administration to operate openly and to leave implementation of policy to city staff while remaining responsive to the public.
As part of the ceremony, the council read a proclamation honoring outgoing Mayor Louis Theros for more than 20 years of public service. The proclamation cited Theros—s leadership as a council member and mayor, his roles on the audit, budget and ordinance committees and work to secure state grants for local infrastructure. A visiting state official presented a written tribute recognizing Theros—s contributions to the community.
The meeting also included the swearing-in of newly elected council members and the selection of Neil Soroka as mayor pro tem. Council confirmed routine items including last month—s minutes before turning to substantive agenda business.
