Pacifica council appoints members to emergency preparedness, library and economic development committees

The Pacifica City Council made a series of committee and commission appointments on Nov. 10.
Emergency Preparedness & Safety Commission: Council appointed Jay Crawford, Ophelia Vertuccio and Michael Wallman to full four-year terms expiring in October 2029. Vice Mayor Bowles praised the applicants' qualifications and the motion passed unanimously.
Library Advisory Committee: The council appointed Parker Witte and Grace Zahid to the two youth positions (one-year terms expiring Oct. 2026). For full terms the council appointed Stephanie Hartwell Mandela, Jennifer Lavin and Kathy Long to four-year terms, and named Brianne Murphy Miller to a two-year partial term (to expire Oct. 2027). The appointments passed unanimously.
Economic Development Committee: Council appointed Oscar Baud, Bridal Berman and Cole Dalton to full four-year terms and Florian Gramlich and Greta Seaglak to two-year terms; the motion passed unanimously.
City staff provided background on recruitment, interview dates and outreach methods; council members noted the difficulty of choosing among many qualified applicants and encouraged those not selected to reapply for future openings.
