Commissioners adopt burn ban, holiday schedule and routine county business

The Uvalde County Commissioners Court handled a series of routine and time-sensitive items during its Nov. 10 meeting, adopting a burn ban, approving a 2026 holiday schedule, accepting monthly reports, and casting the county's votes for the Appraisal District Board of Directors.
On a motion and voice vote the court adopted a ban on outdoor burning because of dry conditions; staff recommended the ban and the court approved it without recorded opposition. The court also adopted the statutorily required 2026 holiday schedule after brief public comment about department staffing and hours.
The court discussed casting its 1,083 Uvalde County votes among six candidates for the Appraisal District Board. Commissioners said they would spread the votes equally among three previously nominated candidates (Lalo Castillo, Kingsbury and Tony Moreno) and send the resolution reflecting that allocation.
Other routine actions approved by voice vote included the minutes of the Sept. 27 meeting; acceptance of the district and county court administration plan; payment of bills after review; and acceptance of monthly reports. The road administrator presented an operations report covering blading, brush cutting and pothole repairs; commissioners discussed watering frequency, potential paving priorities and alternatives to repeated watering.
The court closed with memorials for local residents and a reminder of the noon canvass meeting scheduled for Thursday; the session was then adjourned.
