Walker Valley golfers honored after state finish; Cody Walter wins individual title
The Bradley County Board of Education recognized Walker Valley High School's golf team for a state tournament finish and celebrated senior Cody Walter's individual state title during Monday's meeting.

Dr. Jones, Walker Valley's principal, introduced the team and coaches and noted the program's success: the team finished third in the Class/District state tournament and Walter finished first individually. "This is an excellent group of student athletes that have shown tremendous dedication, skill, and teamwork all season long," Dr. Jones said.

Coach Will Campbell told the board that the team posted its lowest team total in program history and that the roster is young'with juniors, sophomores and freshmen making up most of the lineup'meaning the program expects to compete again in coming seasons. Campbell named team members Harrison Yost, Drew Thompson, Malachi Maples, Luke Fennell and Cody Walter and thanked the board for the recognition.

The board and audience applauded the team; the school will keep a plaque and add the accomplishment to its trophy case.
