Keswick Foundation updates board on scholarships, teacher grants and fundraiser

Cheryl Spear, representing the Keswick Foundation, updated the Kenston Local Board of Education on the group's scholarship and teacher grant activity and upcoming fundraising plans.
"Last year we gave over $11,000 in grants to teachers to help supplement their teaching programs," Spear said, and noted teacher grant applications came from all district buildings. She told the board the foundation received roughly 90 student applications and had more than 30 scholarship listings last year and hopes to add three to five additional scholarships for the coming cycle.
Spear said the foundation has opened teacher grant applications and plans to discuss awarding grants at an upcoming board meeting. She also asked the community to "save the date" for a bingo fundraiser on March 14 at Adam Hall to raise funds for scholarships and teacher grants.
The foundation invited volunteers and community support and said application materials will be distributed again in February. The board thanked Spear for the update.
