Okaloosa board confirms Steve Chapman as HR director and Dustin Keith as facilities director

The Okaloosa County School Board on Nov. 10 unanimously approved two administrative appointments recommended by Superintendent Chambers.
Steve Chapman was recommended for director of human resources. Chambers summarized Chapman's background as a lifelong product of the Okaloosa district, a graduate of Laurel Hill School, a former deputy sheriff and school resource officer, a classroom paraprofessional and teacher, and a district equity specialist. On the board's 5-0 vote, Chapman accepted the appointment and thanked the superintendent, the interview panel and his family. He said he looks forward to serving and emphasized collaboration and inspiring staff.
The board also confirmed Dustin Keith as program director for facilities by a 5-0 vote. Chambers said Keith brings nearly 20 years in the district, U.S. Coast Guard service, and experience leading projects such as district IT infrastructure and standardized CCTV to improve campus security. Keith told the board he was honored to continue working with district teams to maintain safe, welcoming school facilities.
Both confirmations were routine personnel actions and passed without dissent. The board invited the appointees to address members and took photographs following the votes.
