On the Golden Isles TV program Good News Glenn, Glynn County guest Bill Fallon reviewed several county updates for November, including an operational recap of Frat Beach, SPLOST revenues, infrastructure work and holiday events.
Fallon said this year’s Frat Beach had more attendees and higher tides that pushed available beach space close to the crowd; the organizers “pulled the plug early this year” for safety, and the county used drone footage to help estimate attendance. He described logistics for the event — parking, medical tent and replacement porta‑lets for missing restroom facilities — and thanked staff and volunteers.
On finance, Fallon said collections from the county’s SPLOST program have been higher than budgeted, giving the county room to advance projects. "The amount of collections that we have coming in have been more than we had budgeted for," he said, adding SPLOST and other capital projects are progressing.
Fallon said the Canal Road roundabout project is nearly complete and has eased traffic issues for FLETC employees and local residents, with final striping and finishing work underway. He also said work continues at Coast Guard Beach — including tidal‑pool changes that require permitting coordination with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Fallon announced county holiday events: a Christmas tree lighting on Dec. 2 at the Saint Simons Island pier (Mallory area) and noted the upcoming RSM Classic golf tournament in November, where the county will assist with traffic and security during the multi‑day event. He closed by thanking county staff and wishing listeners a happy Thanksgiving.
