Sheriff Nellis Massey briefed the Crawford County Commission on a targeted saturation patrol on Oct. 9 focused on registered offenders. He said officers checked approximately 200 registered offenders: 104 were compliant, 22 were found noncompliant (six of those were taken into custody and 12 were immediately subject to charges), and 68 were not located and remain under investigation.
Massey also provided recent monthly service statistics: the sheriff’s office handled roughly 1,104 calls for service, made about 396 traffic stops, logged 35 arrests, provided 69 motor assists and filed 115 reports. He said the department will step up patrols for the holidays and noted the K‑9 unit has been productive.
What happens next: The sheriff said additional saturation patrols and routine enforcement will continue and invited residents to report neighborhood concerns to the county’s contact system.
