The board approved a utility easement for Sweezy (Pioneer) Cemetery clarifying access and vehicle restrictions and asked parties to sign the agreement after the meeting.
The Jackson County Board of Supervisors voted to approve a utility easement for the Sweezy section of Pioneer Cemetery after the Pioneer Cemetery Committee presented a revised agreement clarifying ingress and egress.
George Dorthery of the Pioneer Cemetery Committee told the board the latest draft clarifies that utility crews may use the easement and may drive on the easement, but may not operate vehicles inside the cemetery. "They can have a vehicle on the easement, but not inside the cemetery," Dorthery said. Both parties indicated they were ready to move forward and requested signatures after the meeting.
Supervisor Mike Steinas moved to approve the easement; the motion was seconded and approved by the board. The chair said the parties can sign the document immediately following the meeting and that the county will ensure there is a paper copy available for the parties.
