Braintree council approves minutes, refers new business to committees and shares community announcements

At its Nov. 5 meeting, the Town of Braintree council completed routine business and shared several community announcements.
The council voted unanimously to approve the minutes for Sept. 2 and Sept. 16 after a motion and second were recorded. The council then voted unanimously to refer all new business to committees. A motion to adjourn was similarly moved, seconded and adopted unanimously; the meeting ended with the council scheduling its next meeting for Nov. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Councilors also used the announcements portion of the agenda to highlight local programs and events. Councilor Quilty described the Marge Crispin Center’s Thanksgiving basket drive, which aims to deliver about 200 baskets priced at roughly $100 each; donations may be made online or by check to Marge Crispin Center, 46 Lincoln Street, Braintree, MA 02184. Councilor Bridal shared the Project Bread hotline for Massachusetts residents seeking food assistance and noted ongoing cereal collections at Town Hall and monthly community meals hosted by Saint Francis and the Braintree Catholic Collaborative.
Other items: the Braintree Farmers Market will host a holiday market Saturday, Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Town Hall; Councilor Angus congratulated the high school girls soccer team on a 5–0 playoff win; Councilor Maglio announced the East Braintree Community Action Coalition’s annual meeting on Nov. 20 at 6:30 p.m. at the Braintree Yacht Club.
The council thanked the town clerk’s office for administering a successful election day and closed a short meeting that had no contested votes on substantive policy items.
