Lake County Board approves 2026 meeting calendar, sets budget hearing dates

Lake County—s Board of Supervisors on Monday approved its 2026 meeting calendar, setting a governance workshop for Tuesday, Jan. 27, a mid-year budget review for Tuesday, Feb. 3, budget hearings on June 16 and June 17, and the final budget hearing on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
Carolyn, a county staff member who presented the calendar, listed the planned dates and invited questions. "The dates of interest would be the annual governance workshop, which is Tuesday, January 27," she said when outlining the schedule, and she noted the staff would record any requested changes.
Supervisor Pyszka urged flexibility on the January date because she "is gonna have another NACO fly in in January," and said she would notify staff as soon as possible if the workshop conflicted with that event. Helen, a board member, said the proposed schedule "gives us another an extra 7 days, which is helpful" for reviewing materials.
Board members pressed staff about the timing for publishing budget documents. One board member said the county—s materials did not meet a 10-day public-availability requirement last year: "It came out 7 days before we talked about it, which means we didn't meet the 10 day statute." Budget staff responded that staff and the board had been prepared and that the department that prepares the budget felt the proposed dates were feasible.
When asked about access to backup materials, budget staff said, "They will be placed on your table, right on outside your office."
After brief public-comment solicitation with no speakers, a board member moved to approve the calendar, clarifying, "It's not regular meeting, it's all meetings." The board chair called for a vote; the measure passed 5-0.
The action approves the county's meeting schedule for 2026 and establishes the dates for the board's key budget hearings. No changes to the calendar were recorded at the meeting; staff said they would note any requests and accommodate scheduling conflicts where possible.
