City council approves $26,638.96 reimbursement to Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce

Beth Galick Carney, president of the Copperas Cove Chamber of Commerce, briefed council on the visitors bureau’s fourth-quarter activities and asked for reimbursement of $26,638.96 for FY 24–25 operations. Carney highlighted recent outreach and promotional work: "tourtexas.com website generated a 106 new travel leads" and the chamber’s site saw "nearly 13,000 visits," which she said were strong numbers for a non-event season.
Carney described partnerships with the EDC, police department and parks and recreation for community events and said the chamber is preparing a 2026 visitors guide and new Copperas Cove maps to be available in January. She also said the chamber placed advertising in a Killeen newcomers guide and is piloting a holiday shopping campaign to promote local businesses.
Council debated motion language before finalizing the appropriation. Councilmember Sean Alzona initially moved to determine the appropriate eligible payment amount not to exceed $26,638.96 and authorize payment; the motion was reworded and Council then moved to appropriate $26,638.96 and authorize payment to the Chamber. The motion was seconded and carried with an affirmative vote from all members present.
