Mayor McGruder proclaims Wheeling Little Patriots for 2025 youth football achievements

Mayor Denny McGruder read and presented a proclamation at the council meeting on Nov. 4 recognizing the Wheeling Little Patriots youth football program for its achievements during the 2025 Ohio Valley Youth Football League (OBYFL) season. The proclamation cited the organization's success across age groups, noted the varsity team's second-place result, the junior varsity's semifinal finish and the Bantam team's championship victory, and named head coach Nolby Banks along with assistant coaches Joey Shao, Noah Littman, Tucker Brown, RJ Sizzleburger and Taysawn Scott.
"Now therefore, I, Denny McGruder, mayor of the city of Wheeling, do hereby proclaim and recognize the Wheeling Little Patriots football team for their outstanding achievements," McGruder said. Players and coaches joined the council for a photo after the proclamation.
The council applauded the teams and thanked staff for organizing the honor. The proclamation noted teams in OBYFL cover communities across Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania and cited the new league commissioner's cup awarded to the organization.
