Grant County magistrate court voted Nov. 4 to approve county claims and transfers dated Nov. 4, 2025, including a $140,000 transfer to the jail fund described by the presiding officer as a temporary "security blanket" pending receipt of funds from the department correction.
The motion "to approve the claims on the general fund, road fund, and jail fund along with the transfers presented dated 11/04/2025" was made and seconded and approved by voice vote. The court recorded the motion as carried.
Presiding officer remarks to the court explained that the $140,000 transfer is intended to ensure the jail has operating funds while the county waits on an anticipated payment; the presiding officer said the county expects the funds "probably first of the week." No formal conditions or contingencies on the transfer were recorded in the meeting minutes.
The vote was taken by voice with all present members saying "aye." The court then moved on to other agenda business.
