Committee schedules public hearing, bids for Spruce Hills Fire Station remodel; station will remain open during work

The Bettendorf City Committee set a public hearing and authorized staff to solicit bids for an interior remodel of the Spruce Hills Fire Station.
Fire Chief Troy Saeed told the committee the station is more than 30 years old and that the planned work is an interior "facelift" rather than structural repairs. He listed planned upgrades to floors, paint, ceiling tiles, cabinets, lockers, lighting and windows, and emphasized the station will remain open during construction so emergency response times are not extended. "We're not gonna close the fire station during construction," Saeed said.
Saeed said the remodel is included in the city's fiscal year 25-26 capital improvement plan. He gave a tentative procurement timeline: bids will close on December 16, the award will return to the committee for approval, construction would begin mid-January and the work is expected to be finished by June. Saeed thanked Public Works staff for assisting with the RFP process.
Committee members moved to place the resolution setting a public hearing and requesting bids on the consent agenda as item D; the motion was seconded and passed by voice vote ('Aye'), with no roll-call recorded in the transcript. The item will return on the published agenda for formal approval and contract award.
