Douglas County OKs Pinery PD amendment to allow mini-warehouse uses in two planning areas

Douglas County commissioners unanimously approved on Nov. 3 a major plan development amendment to the Pinery Planned Development that will allow mini-warehouse (warehouse) uses in planning areas 38 and 41.
Mike Paseka, principal planner, said the amendment would extend permitted warehouse uses into planning areas that had previously been limited to other commercial uses. He noted the Planning Commission recommended approval by an 8–0 vote with one condition, that no public comments were received during the planning process, and that the Pinery HOA raised no concerns about the change.
"The request is a major plan development amendment for the Pinery PD to include many warehouse uses in planning areas 38 [and] 41 where the use is currently limited to planning areas 42 and 43," Paseka said. He added that future development will still be required to meet the Pinery PD development guide for architecture and landscaping.
Craig Campbell of Starwood Land, the applicant representative, stated on the record that he agreed to the two staff-proposed conditions. A commissioner moved to approve the amendment, a second was recorded and the motion carried unanimously.
