Avery County manager announces retirement; board names interim manager

On his personnel announcement he said, "I would like to formally submit and announce my retirement as county manager and as a employee... That will be effective 02/01/2026," and thanked the board before naming Cindy Turbifield as interim effective Feb. 1, 2026. The board acknowledged the announcement and moved on to subsequent agenda items. No formal vote was recorded on the retirement announcement during the meeting.
