The Vallejo Design Review Board on Wednesday voted 3-0 to recommend the Planning Commission approve design review, landscape review and a sign permit for DXD Capital’s proposed four‑story self‑storage facility at 1609 Lewis Brown Drive (PLN 25‑0027).
Senior Planner Robert Busick told the board the project would combine two parcels into a 2.2‑acre site, demolish two existing commercial buildings and construct a roughly 137,000‑square‑foot, climate‑controlled storage building with about 1,000 indoor units and a maximum height of 49 feet, including a 4‑foot parapet. “This proposal does include more than 22,000 square feet of landscaping, which equates to 23% of the project site,” Busick said, noting the project exceeds the minimum 20% landscaping requirement in the limited industrial zoning district.
