Stow City Inclusion commission plans dyslexia town hall at library and sensory outreach at Glow in Stow

Commissioners Elizabeth and Jason will present at the library event; the planned format is a short science overview followed by Jason’s perspective on living with dyslexia and then a question-and-answer session. "I'll bring my certification into it and talk about why this happens to people and what is affecting the brain and how you can work with it," one presenter said, describing strategies and supports the public can use.
Members discussed publicity and logistics: the library listing currently shows the event as "free and open to the public," with some internal notes indicating a room booking that allows setup before a 6:30 p.m. start. The commission agreed staff will confirm the room booking and public-registration details and circulate an email to presenters and commissioners.
For the Dec. 6 Glow in Stow event, the commission will host an information table in the lobby from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., alongside a web store run by student artists selling T-shirts and ornaments based on a mural. The commission also plans a pop-up sensory tent equipped with wiggle seats and low-stimulus items to provide a quieter space for attendees. Commissioners volunteered for shifts and asked staff to supply flyers, a tablecloth and QR codes linking to the online store.
No formal votes were taken on event participation: members confirmed staffing commitments and asked staff to finalize logistics and publicity so both events can proceed.
