Norfolk County Commission accepts retirement of RSVP coordinator Chris Goldsmith

The Norfolk County Commission on Oct. 8 accepted the retirement of Christopher Goldsmith, the county’s volunteer program coordinator for the RSVP (Retired and Senior Volunteer Program), following a public recognition of his decade of service.
County leaders and staff credited Goldsmith with strengthening volunteer recruitment and supporting programs that serve veterans, schools and food assistance efforts. "It's been a pleasure serving the county for all 10 of it," Goldsmith said, adding he expects to continue as an RSVP volunteer after a short break.
Lucille, an RSVP staff member, called Goldsmith "a great mentor" who "helped me transition to this role," and commissioners said the county will miss his institutional knowledge. Chair (name not specified) said the meeting was dedicated to Goldsmith and commissioners thanked him for his service.
A motion to accept Goldsmith's retirement was made and seconded and carried on a voice vote of "all in favor." No amendment or alternative personnel action was taken during the meeting.
The commission noted that program operations will continue under current staff leadership and expressed appreciation for Goldsmith's decade of service. The meeting adjourned after routine business and the commission noted a school board meeting later that evening.
