Chief Mark Weeks reflected on changes across his 36-year career, describing earlier times when the department had two people on shift and recounting how training and interagency cooperation have evolved. "It's been an honor to be here and work for that," Weeks said.
Darren Coleman recalled joining the department when there were three full-time firefighters and described participating in Clearfield’s first EMT class; he praised the next generation of paramedics and said he was grateful for the opportunity to serve multiple communities. "I've enjoyed serving West Point and Clearfield and Sunset when we took them on," Coleman said.
Mayor Shepherd, appearing remotely, thanked both men for their service and noted their combined 73 years with area fire services.
The council presented commemorative items and recognized the spouses and family members who supported the retirees' careers. No formal action was required; the recognition was ceremonial.
