Nantucket preservation panel narrows FY2026 funding pool, asks applicants for more detail

The Nantucket Community Preservation Committee opened its Oct. 29 meeting by correcting an agenda typo and approving the day’s agenda, then turned to a broad review of roughly $4 million in funds available for distribution this cycle after known reserves and administrative set-asides.

Chair (Speaker 2) said the office estimates “around 4,000,000” is available and warned that bond payments, administrative percentages and interest make exact totals provisional, prompting multiple commissioners to ask staff for precise figures before final allocations.

The committee reviewed dozens of applications and flagged a set of large or uncertain requests for follow-up. Commissioners agreed to postpone formal awards for several applicants until they receive additional documentation on fundraising, phasing and legal protections.
