“Right now through October 31, the potatoes is $3,400,000 special ed funding, the national school lunch summer food program, plan comm reimbursement, transportation subsidy, social security reimbursement, and basic aid,” the finance lead reported. Staff noted the district will receive a $1,200,000 wire the following day representing half of the district’s state gambling revenue, but said that broader revenue questions remain while the budget is pending in the legislature.
Board members and administrators discussed the practical effect: the district is operating on projections and last year’s actuals, and staff urged caution about expenditures until revenue certainty returns. One board member urged public engagement and voting as a civic lever; administrators said they had sent letters to state officials and received no response.
The board heard the finance update as an information item; no formal budget vote or action was recorded during the meeting.
