Gateway OKs contracts, substitute pay increase and MOUs for services

At its meeting the Gateway School District Board approved a series of business items including contracts, rates and interagency agreements.
Mr. Zareles presented the business package, noting the district will accept a $32,000 award from USTA Tennis Venues Services Vending for improvements to the Gateway High School tennis courts, and approved a provider maintenance agreement with Hucan Satellite Mechanical covering district facilities from Nov. 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026 for $53,993.84.
The board also approved the write‑off or handling of 2024 real estate tax liens with Weiss, Burkhart, Grama LLC in the amount of $21,680 and set substitute hourly rates effective Oct. 27, 2025: substitute custodians at $19.00 per hour and substitute food servers/general workers/cashiers at $14.75 per hour.
In addition the board approved an MOU with the Allegheny Intermediate Unit for telephone interpretation services and access to the TransPerfect AI translation portal, an addendum for Title I services for the 2025–26 school year, and a $580 donation to the Gateway Backpack Program from Allegheny County sources.
The business package was moved, seconded, and passed by roll call.
