District leaders outlined a two‑year plan to move from wellness "intention" to "infrastructure," embedding mental, emotional and financial wellness into district systems for all staff.
Doctor Martin (director of wellness and development) described Year 1 accomplishments — listening, building trust, launching employee resource groups and staff challenges — and Year 2 priorities that include completing a workplace mental health and wellness audit by May 2026, engaging at least 10% of staff via surveys and focus groups, piloting leader training this winter, and proposing recommendations in spring for August implementation. Randy Couch (coordinator of benefits) explained plans to expand the benefits committee membership, conduct an annual benefits review and improve staff education about supplemental benefits, flexible spending and wellness incentives.
Board members praised the initiative, asked for one‑page summaries, and volunteered for engagement activities; directors emphasized that wellness is a districtwide responsibility not limited to HR. The presenters said the program links wellness activities to benefits incentives and will report findings to the board as pilots and audits conclude.
Next steps: staff will continue focus groups, run the audit, expand the benefits committee and bring recommendations for implementation timelines in spring.
