Gateway School District board approves October bills, personnel and policy package

The meeting also included approval of a slate of personnel actions summarized by Mr. Zareles, including one new employment, five leaves, 13 supplemental assignments, 16 volunteers added and a set of transportation personnel updates. A motion to approve the section 6 personnel items was moved, seconded and approved by roll call.
Board members requested confirmation there were enough coaches and tutors for winter sports and academic programs; district staff confirmed winter sports coaching positions were filled and said tutors are still needed.
The package of administrative policies and agreements under section 7 was moved and approved in the same session. That package included MOUs with outside partners and the district's proposed policies on artificial intelligence and social media (policy 8.15.1 on AI use in education and policy 8.16 on social media for public display). Board members expressed support for the creative writing club and the competitive cheer group included in the approvals.
The board did not take any additional action on items previously tabled other than the procedural motions to table or untable during agenda management. The meeting adjourned after the full agenda was completed.
