City approves $250,580 engineering contract for Easy Street reconstruction

The Green River City Council approved a professional services contract with Benchmark Engineers to support the Easy Street reconstruction project.
Dustin Romero of the public works department told council the contract would "authorize Benchmark to survey the project, perform the geotechnical investigation, and do the engineering design for the Easy Street reconstruction project." He said the contract is a time-and-materials agreement not to exceed $250,580 and that the amount represents approximately 7.5% of the current estimated construction cost. "This is approximately 7 and a half percent of our current estimated construction cost for the project," Romero said.
Council members asked about the project schedule, noting an apparent gap between a listed Gantt-chart date and the scope-of-work completion date; Romero said the chart will be updated and that the longer schedule allows a full year for the project. Council also asked whether potholing utility lines was included in the contract; Romero said potholing was outside the scope and the city would either perform it in-house or solicit additional estimates if needed.
Council voted to enter into the agreement and authorized the mayor to sign; the contract was reported as funded from 6p funds allocated to the project.
