Person County proclaims Farm City Week and joins 'Operation Green Light' for veterans

At its Nov. 3 meeting, the Person County Board of Commissioners adopted two proclamations recognizing local observances.
Beau Freeman, Cooperative Extension director, presented the Farm City Week proclamation, noting Person County is home to 364 farms covering 88,571 acres with an average farm size of 243 acres and a 2022 market value of agricultural products of $46,500,000; the board proclaimed Nov. 3–9, 2025 as Farm City Week and encouraged participation in related events.
The board also adopted a resolution supporting Operation Green Light for Veterans 2025, a national initiative led by the National Association of Counties to show visible support for veterans by displaying green lights from Nov. 4–11. Staff said county buildings will display green lights and encouraged residents and businesses to participate.
Both items were approved by voice vote.
