Public Works reports leaf collection, ribbon cuttings and upcoming credit-card payment option

Public Works delivered a verbal director's report to the Improvement & Services Committee on Oct. 29 outlining recent departmental activities.
Staff said leaf collection is underway with volumes so far described as not high, that sign-shop crews and striping crews have been busy preparing ahead of cold weather (including roundabout and Squeaksie Street striping), and that Country Club Road will open later in the week with a ribbon cutting coordinated with Ald. Hinxus. Staff also noted a mill-and-pave program ribbon cutting planned for Nov. 5 and said the department expects to highlight one location in District 12.
A notable operational change: staff said the department will be able to accept credit-card payments by the end of the week for in-person and phone transactions, which staff said will reduce the need to send customers to the Clerk's Office.
Alder DeLay moved to receive and place the report on file; the motion was seconded and carried. Staff noted the committee's recommendations will proceed to the City Council on Nov. 11 where final action is taken.
