The Improvement & Services Committee on Oct. 29 recommended awarding Contract Pavement 3-25 (Manitowoc Road sidewalk) to Peters Concrete Company, the low bidder at $806,133.67.
Public Works said four bids were received; the highest bid was $892,008.45 and all bids were in the roughly $800,000 range. Staff recommended awarding the full contract to Peters Concrete and noted the project is part of the capital improvement program and is cost-shared with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Staff stated WisDOT's portion would be $645,000 and the city's portion is the 20% share; the city will award the full contract and seek reimbursement from WisDOT. Staff also said WisDOT is holding the award pending completion of necessary real-estate acquisitions and anticipated most work will occur in spring.
Alder Eck moved to approve awarding the contract and Alder Ritterbush seconded. The committee voted in favor and the chair declared the motion carried. Staff said the project will be included in the 2026 CIP allocation as needed and that funding will be split across years.
