Calaveras Board proclaims October 2025 Domestic Violence and Breast Cancer Awareness months

The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors on Oct. 28 unanimously adopted two proclamations recognizing October 2025 as Domestic Violence Awareness Month and Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
For the domestic violence proclamation, Assistant District Attorney Brad Jones thanked the board and highlighted the theme "With Survivors Always," noting the work of local organizations including the Resource Connection and Calaveras Crisis Center. Sheriff Rochelle Whiting and other law enforcement and victim service representatives emphasized the frequency of domestic violence calls and urged residents to use available resources.
On the breast cancer proclamation, Carrie Biker, business administrator for public health, and CJ Singh of Unity Health Mark Twain Medical Center encouraged early detection and mammography; Singh described recent local fundraising that raised $30,000 for infusion services at the county’s cancer center.
Both proclamations passed by voice vote, 5–0. The board thanked the speakers and encouraged residents to seek services and screening where appropriate.
