Harper described a 24‑hour crisis hotline, legal accompaniment and help obtaining personal protection orders, a children's advocate to assist minors exposed to abusive households, transitional housing and daily advocacy by trained staff and volunteers. "Love should never hurt," Harper said, urging support and nonjudgmental assistance for those affected by intimate‑partner violence.
Commissioners accepted the proclamation and thanked Harper and the shelter's staff for their work. The proclamation included a public note that residents will see purple ribbons at the courthouse and judicial building to mark awareness month.
