Sheridan County approves $1,000 for courthouse security mirrors

Sheridan County commissioners on Monday approved a $1,000 request to install roughly a dozen security mirrors in courthouse hallways, saying the small outlay should reduce safety risks at blind corners.
Maintenance supervisor Eric told the board the departments identified about 12 locations where mirrors would help sightlines and estimated the cost at approximately $1,000. "We need about 12 mirrors total and cost about a thousand bucks," he said.
Commissioner (speaker 6) moved to approve the purchase and Commissioner Chen seconded. The board discussed placement requests — including one opposite the staff break room — and agreed the mirrors were a prudent safety expense. Chair called for the vote and commissioners signaled their approval.
Staff said the purchase will require a budget amendment in the maintenance/security category; commissioners asked staff to prepare the amendment and proceed with procurement once the amendment is placed on a future agenda.
The action was approved during the warrant-review portion of the meeting and the board recorded the motion as carried.
