Planning commission clears Spicy Kitchen to sell beer and wine at new Orodam Boulevard location

The Oroville Planning Commission voted to approve a use permit allowing Spicy Kitchen to sell beer and wine at its new location, 2450 Orodam Boulevard East.
Staff said the proposed Type 41 license (on‑sale beer and wine with meal service) is permitted with a use permit in the corridor mixed‑use (MXC) zone; staff noted the area already contains several alcohol licenses and identified required findings and conditions in the project packet. ‘‘The area is already accustomed to commercial activity and no negative impacts are anticipated for the proposed license,’’ staff told the commission.
No applicant was present, and public comment at the hearing was supportive. Commissioners praised the building’s location and parking; one commissioner moved to approve the application as agendized and the motion was seconded and passed with six yeas and one absence.
Staff will return applicable conditions to the applicant and file the permit with the required letters of public convenience and necessity.
